2020 SEMA show cancelled amidst pandemic
The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) has reportedly put down the curtains on its 2020 event. The cause of cancellation being the present COVID-19 pandemic situation.
With the presence of 161,000 attendees, SEMA was all set to make it a full-fledged show this year as well. The suggested security checks were wearing masks, mandate temperature checks, and one-way aisles. Besides, pushing the norms of social distancing, additional cleaning was also scheduled.
Displaying his regret for the current situation, Chris Kersting, SEMA president, and CEO expressed that the SEMA Show is committed to furthering businesses in the automotive speciality-equipment market, and to providing manufacturers and buyers with the best opportunity to connect, promote new products and discover new trends.
He further added, “We appreciate the spirit, hard work, and innovation our industry puts into the SEMA Show each year. While we are disappointed circumstances prevent us from hosting the show in November, we look forward to getting everyone together in 2021 for another outstanding event.”
The event was originally supposed to be held from November 3-6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Though the in-person show is not happening now, the organizers indicated that a virtual alternative might be considered. They laid light on the virtual show by laying emphasis on the "live elements".
To keep the heart of their delighted visitors, SEMA has also announced their dates for the upcoming year’s event. The 2021 SEMA show would be held between Nov 2-5 at LVCC.
Lastly, for the enthusiasts who had already paid for their spots at the event, full refunds will be issued to them. The organization would post further updates on SEMAShow.com.
