2021 Fiat 500 electric received a new twist
Fiat has finally introduced a new body style for its all-new 500 electric (or 500e). The model was showcased for the first time on the global platform in March this year. Dubbed as the 500 Electric 3+1, the new version is the third member of the new lineup.
The uniqueness behind the name lies in its unique body that gives it “3+1” doors. The car is all set to join the existing lineup that includes convertible and hardtop variants. One of the impressive things in the 500 3+1 is the addition of a small suicide door that is present on the passenger side.
Described as “all-new, all-electric, and with an extra door” but “always 500,” the upcoming vehicle will be replacing the Fiat 500 that was launched in the year 2007. While the improved changes in the vehicle have certainly added to its looks, the vehicle has gained extra 30 kg of weight.
However, the automaker says that the increased weight won’t be affecting the car’s handling and the overall electric consumption.
Offered in the La Prima, Passion, and Icon variant, similar to the convertible and hardtop, the vehicle is powered by a front-mounted electric motor. The setup provides the car with a maximum output of 117 hp. The suggested setup is said to take nine seconds to accelerate from an idle start to 100 kmph. Moreover, the engine maxes out at 150 kmph top speed.
Additionally, the motor’s power supply is met by a 42-kWh lithium-ion battery, giving out an EV range of 320 km. The vehicle also picks up an 11-kW AC charger besides 85 kW DC charging.
The other considerable tweaks around the car include two-tone 17-inch wheels, eco-leather upholstery, six-way adjustable front seats, and a 360-degree view monitor. The other interior highlights include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with DAB digital radio among others.
