2021 Genesis GV70 engine specifications revealed
Hyundai’s luxury arm Genesis finally unveiled the technical details of its new GV70 SUV. Being the brand’s fifth model and second SUV, the GV70 has set its base as a luxury SUV, paired to premium performance.
However, Genesis has decided to add to the car’s performance by introducing a new powertrain and a Sport Package upgrade to make the offer more compelling.
Talking about the car’s powertrain offering, the engine options introduced for the GV70 SUV match the likes of the automaker’s recently-revised G70 sedan. The new powertrain options available over the range include a 304 hp 2.5-litre turbo-petrol, a 380 hp 3.5-litre turbocharged V6, and a 210 hp 2.2-litre diesel.
Moreover, Genesis announced that 2.2-litre and the 2.5-litre engines would be available in rear- and four-wheel-drive formats. The larger and the powerful 3.5-litre range-topping engine will be available only on a four-wheel-drive configuration.
Further, the GV70 also includes a launch control function; the new setup allows the range-topping variant to cover the speed of 100 kmph from an ideal start, in a recorded time frame of 5.1 seconds, matching to the likes of Porsche Macan S.
Additionally, the car’s four-wheel-drive option also receives a "Multi-Terrain Control” system, allowing the vehicle to quickly make its way around snowy, muddy, and sandy road conditions.
Another addition to the list of offerings is pairing the powertrain with a Sport Package upgrade. The new sport package introduces an electronic limited-slip differential in the car; this way, occupants can now opt for improved handling and better reliability.
Besides introducing firm handling in the car, the GV70 sport package also adds sporty elements like exclusive wheel designs and a better & larger sporty exhaust outlet. The automaker takes things up a notch by adding carbon fibre-style on the car’s interior trim elements.
