2021 Geneva Motor Show might come with a revamp

The Coronavirus had impacted on almost every format of sports, entertainment, and businesses across the globe. A similar impact was faced by this year’s Geneva Motor Show, which was earlier supposed to occur with precautions in mind, was later on canceled due to the pandemic. But now, as per the latest news from Automotive News Europe, it could make a return with a revised format in 2021.

The 2021 running of the Geneva show was slated to be held in June. Following the cancellations of the 15 days long event, its organisers, the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) Foundation, came up with a decision to hand over their event to Palexpo SA. The Palexpo SA was the firm responsible for providing a venue for the Motor Show event.

Considering the turn of events and the present situation, the program has been revised to three days, expected to be open for media outlets, as per the news by the magazine.

As per the latest details around the revised show, it will be staged at the same Palexpo venue, situated on the outskirts of Geneva. The event will be a fine blend of physical and virtual events to ensure proper safety of the people present in the venue

Interestingly, the media outlets would also go on a 30-minute press conference that will be held live and also has the chance to be held via online broadcasts.

The Palexpo promotional brochure sighted by Automotive News Europe read. “This period of transition presents an opportunity for us to reinvent our profession, evolve our events and create new platforms for bringing people together both in person and virtually,” 

The Geneva International Motor Show Foundation has provided the carmakers three packages that range from 150,000 Swiss francs (SGD 222,833) to 750,000 Swiss francs (SGD 111,04,17).

Lastly, as per the Autocar, there have been no further reports by any of the manufacturers about their participation in the revamped 2021 Geneva Motor Show yet.
