2021 Toyota Crown gets a new kit in Japan

While it had not been much time since Toyota introduced the 15th-generation Crown across global platforms, the sedan is already getting an update in Japan. The car is introduced with a kit to add to its interiors besides tweaking the exteriors of the car.

To begin with the interiors at large, the car focuses on adding a distinctive look with a massive touch screen. The centre of attraction for the 2021 model year is a 12.3-inch wide touchscreen display that crowns the dashboard of this luxury sedan.

Other commendable changes around the cabin can be seen in the form of a split-screen configuration that is entirely different from the current-generation Toyota Crown. We can see how Toyota has done justice to the moderate-sized infotainment screen.

Moreover, viewers can also notice the central display that lies between the air-conditioning vents and also provides the occupants with controls for the climate control system. Besides the infotainment and screen-sizes, users will also get Apple CarPlay/Android Auto-ready 12.3-inch touchscreen.

Talking about the other changes of the vehicle, the powertrain remains aloof of the tweak and changes. It is still available in two electrified powertrains. The first option is a 3.5L V6 engine that churns out a maximum power output of 295 hp besides giving out 356 Nm of peak torque. The second engine on offer is a 2.5L four-cylinder engine that gives out 181 hp of power output besides giving out 221 Nm of peak torque.

Interestingly, both the powertrains have hybrid built up and carry an electric motor that is paired to a lithium-ion battery. Besides the available powertrain configurations, customers can also opt for a non-hybrid 2.0L four-cylinder engine that is powerful enough to generate 241 hp of power besides giving out 350 Nm of torque.

Lastly, there has not been much change around the exterior of the vehicle besides some added safety features among others. The car is now priced at 4.899 million yen (SGD 63,677) and goes up to 7.393 million yen (SGD 96,094).
