2021 Toyota Mirai FCEV gets Modellista transformation
The second-generation Toyota Mirai FCEV is a living proof that cars that come equipped with future tech need not to look futuristic. It looked like a regular sedan and now that look is gone, thanks to Modellista, who has come up with a body kit that makes the car look sleek and sporty.
We all know that Toyota offers various kinds of customizations to their customers and when it comes to body kits, the car manufacturer also relies on its in-house Modellista division. Talking about the body kits by Modellista, the use of chrome can be surely expected. Hence, Mirai’s downturned mouth now gets a full-width chrome bar treatment.
The chin has been extended with the help of a splitter that gets a bit of black treatment, along with chrome on the sides and body color in the middle. A similar combination of chrome, body-color, and black treatment can be seen on the side skirts as well. In addition to that, buyers can also add chrome trim on the mirror caps as well.
Moving to the rear, it does miss out on a spoiler, instead, it gets a mini integrated ducktail, which looks elegant. Moreover, the earlier large lower bumper has been now replaced with a bumper that flaunts silver chrome at the side and body-color treatment in the middle, which was a much-needed change at the rear.
The new Mirai is now based on the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), which brings changes in its dimensions. The body is now much larger than the original car as it is 70 mm wider, 85 mm longer, along with a 140 mm longer wheelbase. In order to make it look sportier, the car has been lowered by 65 mm, which makes a solid difference in the proportions.
The latest generation also features rear-wheel drive, but the details regarding the powertrain have not been revealed yet. However, rumors state that it would have a maximum power of 182 hp and 30 percent more range.
