2022 Lotus Emira teased ahead of official reveal

Lotus has teased its upcoming offering Emira, one last time before it becomes official next week. The automaker gave us one final peek via a teaser video posted on its social media account. The clip provides us with the closest look, before the car’s debut on July 6.

Talking about the Lotus upcoming sports car, the automaker confirmed that Emira is going to be the last model that will be powered by an internal combustion engine. Post the launch of this car, the automaker will begin selling fully electric sports cars. The Emira, along with two other battery-powered models will be replacing the Exige, Elise, and Evora in the lineup.

Coming back to the released teaser, it is very short but provides us enough time to spot the side view that is too aesthetic. The front half profile of the car reflects along the curvy front fender that also gives us an idea of its door.

The car highlights a sharp design with a low front-end, assisted by sharp front fenders. Other highlights that are visible from the image are large Y-spoke alloy wheels that are complemented with a rising shoulder line that blends in seamlessly with the aggressive style.

Other than the Y-spoke alloy wheels, viewers can also have a look at the Evija-aping vertical headlights that are integrated with double LED daytime running lights. However, when you have a closer look at its front, the short nose confirms that the car has a mid-engine, just like the brand’s other models.

While there is no official information on the type of offering it will provide, rumours around the car’s engine suggest that it will retain the Toyota-sourced 3.5L supercharged V6 that is used by the ongoing Lotus lineup. On the other side, rumours circulating out of Europe suggest that Lotus’s last combustion engine vehicle will be powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine from the Mercedes-AMG A45 S.

Whatever the situation be, we’ll have a better view of the upcoming car in a few days.
