2023 Toyota GR Corolla breaks cover

Thanks to a photo leak, we already caught a glimpse of this vehicle yesterday. But nothing beats the excitement of seeing the actual model. The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla has finally been revealed, and from the looks of it, it will be a beast of a car. 

The vehicle seems like a “grown-up” version of the GR Yaris so let’s check out what this vehicle will be bringing to the table.

First, let’s talk about the exterior. The GR Corolla’s structure is more like the original Corolla Hatchback, with five seats and doors for better functionality. The only difference is a new underfloor tunnel, new bracings on the rear wheel wells, and more wielding points. However, the GR Corolla does have some of the aggressiveness of the GR Yaris with the same vertical corner air inlets and a vast rectangular grille.

Coming to the interior, the GR Corolla has the same sports seats with adjustable headrests as the Yaris. The seats are made with the Brin Naube suede on the Circuit Edition and a gear knob with Morizo’s signature. The vehicle will also sport a beautiful startup animation in its multi-info display system. 

The most impressive part about the Toyota GR Corolla is the engine. It is said to be even more potent than the GR Yaris. The engine will be a three-cylinder, direct-injected and turbocharged 1.6-litre, G16E-GTS one. From what we hear, it will have an impressive power output of 304 PS and a maximum torque of 370 Nm - almost 27 PS more powerful than the Toyota GR Yaris. 

The GR Corolla will be produced in the Motomachi plant like the GR Yaris. It is the first GR model that will be sold in the US and globally. The Circuit Edition will be a limited edition available in the US in 2023. For now, the original model will be available in Japan in the latter half of the year.
