BMW showcases a new iDrive technology at CES 2021

BMW has taken the opportunity of introducing the world to its revolutionary technology at the 2021 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The automaker seized that chance to preview the next-generation iDrive infotainment system that will lead all of its upcoming infotainment systems, after the arrival in the iX.

Set to go-off for sale later in 2021, the iX is said: "to transport driver-vehicle interaction into a new digital and intelligent age." The BMW iX electric crossover is linked to a 14.9-inch touchscreen besides getting paired to a 12.3-inch instrument display.

Interestingly, both the screens are mated together to form one single screen, making a single, curved piece of glass that covers the maximum area on the dashboard. The new iDrive is said to utilise the functionality of a connected car, allowing it to “make the mobility experience even safer, even more comfortable and convenient, and even richer in variety.”

Other major highlights around the newly introduced infotainment system, gives out the looks of a more refined colourful design that is said to add a more premium feel to the electric crossover. Further, based on a glance at the system, one can easily say that the automaker has done a great job to make the UI look similar to the previous generations.

However, despite coming up with the addition of BMW’s own personal voice assistant and gestures over the recent updates in the car, the iDrive knob stays in the centre of the console.

Moving ahead with the infotainment system, the automaker includes a combination of sensors and artificial intelligence, allowing the car to adapt to “personalised and proactive dialogues between driver and vehicle” that allows occupants to tap into “new horizons for your driving experience.”
