Chinese EV maker WM to enter Indonesia in 2022
With some of the major automakers already setting up their base of operations in Indonesia, the Chinese EV firm WM Motor might be making its entry in the country next year! As per the recent reports, the automaker will be introducing its Weltmeister EX5 as the first model in the country.
The EX5 is a five-seater SUV that picks up on conventional looks and styling. The exterior of the car boasts a minimalist design language that is subdued by the presence of curved-off rectangular headlights. The front end of the car presents a simple design with a minimalized yet appealing grille design.
Other than the front, the EV continues to explore similar patterns of styling in its design language. Overall, the SUV packs up on a modern, appealing design for a market like Indonesia.
In the latest interview with an Indonesian news site Tempo, the director and CEO of WM Motor Pacific Yedi Yunadi Sondy mentioned, "We prioritize the SUV model taking into account the Indonesian market taste, the contours of the road and nature, as well as aspects of practicality and functionality."
As for the powertrain, the EV has a single electrical motor packed to give out some 218 hp of power, besides generating up to 315 Nm of torque. The e-motor is mated to a 49 kWh battery pack.
The SUV comprises a full ADAS pack, including traffic jam assist (TJA), adaptive cruise control (ACC), forward collision warning (FCW), autonomous emergency braking (AEB), traffic sign recognition (TSR), lane keep assist (LKA), and blind spot detection (BSD) feature among others.
Lastly, the car is also said to come with the Level 2 autonomous driving system that is paired to a 360-degree digicam system.
