Daihatsu Rocky e-Smart Hybrid to be revealed at Tokyo Auto Salon 2022

The Tokyo Auto Salon next year will be held from 14th to 16th January 2022 at the Makuhari Messe. And, it seems like there will be several exciting reveals this time! Among them, a recent announcement revealed that Daihatsu, the small car specialist will bring four new concept cars into the market, including a new model based on their recently launched Rocky E-Smart Hybrid. Let’s take a look at what the new concepts will offer.

Firstly, the Hybrid will be available in two variants, Crossfield and Premium. The Crossfield version is meant for those looking for a rugged SUV. This version will receive a stunning black grille that will surround black highlights. It will also receive yellow fog lights, a roof rack, huge tyres, and mudflaps.

On the other hand, the Premium version is more sophisticated and elegant - something that suits the city dwellers. This version will come with blue highlights and glittery silver paint. These blue highlights will be spotted on the SUV’s body cladding, front fog lights, door mirrors, and roof. It will also receive silver skid plates with all-terrain Toyo Open Country tyres enclosing its black wheels.

The current E-Smart Hybrid is powered by a powerful electric motor that provides a power output of 106 PS and a maximum torque of 170 Nm. It also sports a 1.2L three-cylinder, WA-VEX Atkinson-cycle engine that works kind of like a generator for the lithium-ion 4.3Ah battery. This produces a power output of 82 PS and a maximum torque of 105 Nm. According to Daihatsu, the vehicle has a moderate range of 28 kmpl. We can assume that the new concepts will inherit this powertrain or might receive upgrades for a stronger, better performance.

No further news has been revealed about the upcoming concept of the much-loved Daihatsu Rocky E-Smart Hybrid. Till then, stay tuned for more updates!
