FCA to build lighter SUVs in Poland, as per reports
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has announced plans to refurbish its Poland factory. As per the report, the automaker will be upgrading its Tychy, Poland factory to develop three new models for the brands, including Alfa Romeo, Fiat, and Jeep, from the second half of 2022.
Suspected to house the upcoming Alfa Romeo's city-sized SUV, the Tychy factory might be the house for lighter SUVs in the forthcoming year. In a recent news release, published by FCA, the automaker confirmed the “growth and modernisation” of their development centre.
The move is said to cause up an investment that is being evaluated at 755 million Polish złoty (SD$ 269 million), to “begin automation of the very first of 3 brand-new automobile versions for the team’s brand names in the 2nd fifty percent of 2022.”
”The announced Jeep, Fiat, and Alfa Romeo models will be technically progressed versions based upon a brand-new principle of mobility. They will undoubtedly be produced making use of one of the most sophisticated drive systems, consisting of the all-electric drive.”
While there have been no further revelations on the identity of the upcoming models of the Fiat, Jeep, and Alfa Romeo; the vehicles are more likely to be slotted into the B-segment. Marked as the 'light' SUV segment, the production SUVs would have a direct competition to the city-sized offerings by Toyota, Ford, and Audi.
Interestingly, the three models’ arrivals classification also sheds some light on the Alfa Romeo model mystery that is due for coming as the 'B-SUV', earlier teased in 2019. Further, the upcoming car is rumoured to be a battery-electric variant.
Lastly, the sudden shift of the automaker’s attention to lighter, compact, and smaller SUVs is because they are the new cash cow for almost every automaker. With improved revenues on the stake, the future offerings are to be noticed.
