Geely Boyue gets Infinite Weave grille in China, marks million unit sales

Geely has revealed 2020's '1 Million Edition' variant of the Boyue. The updated offering showcases Proton X70's infinite grille to commemorate the sale of a million unit of Boyue in China. The special edition offering also gets some minor cosmetic change and enhanced equipment.

The Geely Boyue has been around the global automobile platform since 2016. Owning to the demands in the segment, the vehicle has been known to receive regular upgrades. The new infinity grille is a replacement of the "expanding cosmos" grille. However, the latest upgrade is not a part of the Boyue Pro.

Coming to the other changes, the Geely Boyue special edition is seen sporting a colour-matched side air inlet. The other changes around the car include the automaker's script instead of a badge. Moreover, the vehicle also comes with seven colour options.

At a recent interview during a media session at the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show, Azlan expressed, "Proton has a rich Malaysian heritage. We believe in a culture of benchmarking. We build upon past good values. To be harmonious, progressive and spirited is our new way forward. We are learning from Geely Auto about how they build their products."

Driving the vehicle will be a total of three variants, all of which will be seen with a 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, generating 162hp of power and 250Nm of peak torque. The other engine at offering comes by the name 1.8TD +7DCT Comfort, generating a power output of 184hp and 300Nm of torque.

The final range-topping variant will be powered by a similar powertrain setup but will offer additional equipment. The latest offering showcases an upgraded chassis with a strengthened frame that will reduce the overall weight of the vehicle.

Lastly, coming to the pricing of the vehicle, Boyue is offered at RM 99,800 (SD19,715), the mid-range vehicle at RM 109,800 (SD21,670), and the range-topping variant at RMB116,800 (SD23,000).
