KEY TAKEAWAYS
How many variants of the Geely Emgrand are on sale in the Philippines?
The all-new Geely Emgrand comes in two variants in the Philippines - Comfort and Premium, priced at PHP 798,000 (SGD 21,124) and PHP 908,000 (SGD 24,036), respectively.Set to lock horns with the likes of the Toyota Vios and Honda City, the C-segment sedan is on sale in two trims, namely Comfort and Premium. Geely also plans to add an entry-level S variant to the line-up in the future. The price of this bottom-tier offering remains unknown for the time being.
The Geely Emgrand stands 4,638 mm long, 1,820 mm wide, and 1,460 mm tall. As for the wheelbase, there’s ample space inside the sedan, with its front and rear axles being 2,650 mm apart. Both the Honda City and Toyota Vios are smaller than the Emgrand in terms of length, width, and wheelbase.
A “straight waterfall energy sound string” front grille, along with vertical slats, adorns the front end of the Chinese sedan. The Emgrand carries an undistinguished resemblance to the new Borui and Xingyue L. A pair of remodelled headlamps and triangular fog lamp housings complete the front end of the sedan.
There isn’t much going on the side profile of the Emgrand. A sharp shoulder line that travels all the way from the tail lights to the headlamps, 17-inch diamond-cut alloys, and blacked-out B-pillars take care of the styling on the sides. Speaking of the rear profile, there are wrap-around full-width tail lights, which also get a light bar and scripted timepiece that links the clusters. Faux outlets, slim reflectors, and a long chrome strip are the final garnishing elements at the rear.
On the inside of the Geely Emgrand is a minimalistic cabin that is bolstered one-piece dashboard design with integrated AC vents. An 8-inch infotainment touchscreen screen, electronic parking brake, automatic climate control, sunroof, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, among others, offer convenience on the inside of the Geely Emgrand.
Sitting under the hood of the Chinese sedan is the JLC-4G15B 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder gasoline-powered engine. This motor is capable of producing 102 PS of maximum power at 5,600 rpm and a peak torque of 142 Nm from 4,400 rpm to 4,800 rpm. A 5-speed manual and a CVT are the two transmission options on offer.
The safety department has in its arsenal ABS with EBD, hill start assist, traction and stability control, speed-sensing automatic central locking, up to six airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, ISOFIX child seat anchors, and other modern-day features. The Comfort and Premium trims of the Geely Emgrand carry a price tag of PHP 798,000 (SGD 21,124) and PHP 908,000 (SGD 24,036), respectively, in the Philippines.
