Geely opens bookings for its new Emgrand sedan
While Geely introduced its new Emgrand earlier this month, the pre-bookings of the sedan are now open in China. This budget-oriented sedan is one of the major offerings by the automaker as it replaces its best-selling model since 2008.
Previously codenamed as the SS11, the car is expected to reach Chinese showrooms by the third quarter of the year. Talking about the exterior of this appealing sedan, the car packs sporty and distinctive looks. Presenting us with a slim, appealing exterior, the car resonates with an LED setting on its front.
Further, the light settings are equally compensated with an alluring grille setup that is neither too big nor too small. Besides the front, the sedan carries a similar look at its side profile with strong lines running across the front to the rear of the body.
Moving to the rear, the Emgrand presents a seamless finish with connected tail lights that are adjoined via a trim piece. The rear fascia also boasts a faux diffuser and a centrally-mounted fog light.
Now, while we have no technical details around the car, a report from Xcar states that the Emgrand’s engine receives a fine tuned treatment. The engine has been modified to improve throttle response, camshaft control, and refinement. As for the final output, it has been revamped to give out 114 hp of power, besides churning out a peak torque of up to 147 Nm.
The powertrain setup continues to drive the front wheel setup. Sadly, the only available option for the transmission is CVT as Geely has dropped its old five-speed manual.
Moving to the pricing factor, the Geely Emgrand price starts at 87,000 yuan (SGD 18,170) for its base Premium model. The price then rises up to (SGD 29,500) for its flagship model.
Lastly, Proton is also said to be developing a new sedan to compete with Geely’s latest offerings.
