Geely Preface sedan enters production after 16 months of concept reveal

Geely Auto, one of the leading automobile manufacturers of China, unveiled the concept model of the Preface sedan last year. Now, after almost 16 months, the brand has revealed the images of the production model. It is expected to launch by the fourth quarter of 2020 and the production will take place at Geely Auto’s Hangzhou Bay facility. 

According to the brand, it is a flagship sedan, which is based on the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA). The platform is Geely Holding Group’s popular and award-winning architecture. The concept was shown at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show. It received a lot of attention and was glorified for its wide wheel track, wide proportions, and highly balanced design statement, all thanks to Geely Design, which is operated by Peter Horbury, Executive Vice President of Design. 

When it comes to the exterior of the vehicle, it comes with sporty design dues. It flaunts the 'Expanding Cosmos' grille at the front that makes the car look bold. Due to the vertical bars in the grille, it does look similar to  Mercedes-AMG’s Panamericana look. The grille sits between slim headlights that boast twin projectors.

Geely Design Shanghai Vice President, Guy Burgoyne said, “We have strived to retain many of the aspects of the Preface Concept sedan that we showed in 2019, and with added feedback from Geely Auto users we have retained many aspects, and also introduced several improvements to the production Preface”. He added that Preface displays the brand’s constant growth and the commitment to buyers.

With the wider body along with larger wheels, the production model will surely gain a lot of road presence. At the rear, it gets narrow trapezoidal tail-lights and the bumper gets a pair of Bentley-Esque oval tailpipes and a diffuser-like insert. There’s no information revealed regarding the interiors but it is expected to get a horizontal dashboard, twin freestanding displays, and a concave centre console. 

Information regarding the safety features and engine lineup will be declared during the market launch in China.
