Honda introduces the new 2022 Step WGN MPV
Japan has seen Honda’s best creations to date, and it was no surprise when Honda announced that Japan will receive a practical 2022 Step WGN MPV. However, this model will be replacing a classic vehicle - the cute 2015 Waku Waku Gate. Let's check out what the new model will be offering in exchange.
The upcoming Step WGN MPV’s exterior design will be leaning towards a slightly boxy but much neater design. We can see straight lines, a slightly raised beltline, slim detailing, and much more. The MPV’s Sprada variant will be a little sportier though - with a rear spoiler, chrome-plated body accents, and a large dual-bar grille.
The new model will follow an interesting horizontal theme in its interior design scheme. It will feature a straight bottom window which will elevate the vehicle’s visibility and reduce the passenger’s motion sickness. It will also come with a huge 15.6-inch rear drop-down multimedia display along with an 11.4-inch freestanding centre touchscreen. The touchscreen will be equipped with Honda’s nifty Connect Navy infotainment system.
Honda is leaning towards better practicality with the upcoming model, and the seven comfortable, highly-configurable seats is a tribute to that. The second row of the Step WGN can be slid all the way forward, backward, or sideways to allow the driver to tend to their children in the back row. The high-end variants of the MPV will be fitted with Ottomans, and B-pillar sliding door switches will be provided to ensure easy accessibility to portals.
Honda is yet to reveal specific details of its technical specifications. There will be an eHEV variant and a petrol variant. It might feature a 2.0L i-VTEC naturally-aspirated and a 1.5L VTEC Turbo mill unit. The 2.0L will be used with two electric motors to generate power.
We are yet to receive more news on the upcoming vehicle. Till then, stay tuned!
