Honda reveals SUV e:Prototype at Auto Shanghai 2021
Honda showcased its all-new SUV e:prototype at the Auto Shanghai 2021 event. The latest offering by Honda is a direct scale-up from the previous Honda e, giving it the stance of an SUV.
Limited to the Chinese market, for now, the Honda SUV e:Prototype is part of the automaker’s plans to introduce a lineup of 10 EVs in China. Expected to roll over a period of the next five years, the EV plans are expected to help the automaker to reach its carbon neutrality goal by 2030.
At first glance, the SUV e:prototype looks like the SUV e:concept that was previously introduced to us at the 2020 Beijing Motor Show (also known as Auto China). However, the only difference between the 2020 product and the current model year is that this car looks more production-ready and resonates with a sense of styling, similar to the latest HR-V.
Talking of the exterior, the Honda SUV e:Prototype dawns a front end that is rather bold and aggressive. Overall, the front-end of the car looks crisp in terms of its design, paired to the ‘eyes’ like headlamps that give the car a distinctive U-shaped signature lighting feature.
Further, the exterior of the car also picks up a majority of its styling elements from the HR-V, where it gets rear door handles that are designed in a similar fashion. The car gives more hints of the HR-V at its rear, where it gets tail lights and an illuminated Honda logo.
While not much information was disclosed by the automaker around the mill and the interior. It affirms that the car will deliver “dynamic yet smooth acceleration.” Beyond its acceleration, the interior of the car is said to “enable the driver to feel the ‘joy of driving’ in abundance.”
Lastly, with such heavy configurations and futuristic looks, we can only be more excited about the future of Honda’s EV lineup.
