Kia Picanto faced a harsh defeat with zero stars at the NCAP crash test
In a recent turn of events, the Korean automaker Kia that is soring high in success with its latest advancements like the Sorento and Stinger has recently faced a harsh defeat at the NCAP crash test. The automaker received zero (0) stars for its newly facelifted Picanto hatch.
The New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) has been one of the most reliable car safety scorer that came into the picture around 1979. Formed by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this non-profit organization has been a reliable source for many premium cars as it crashes them to receive scores and ratings.
The latest test result coming out of the Latin NCAP labs is that of the Kia Picanto, which has been a great disappointment for the fans of the brand, around the world. Also known as Kia Morning in its home country, it seems to be unsafe according to the US safety crash conditions.
Talking about the test that the vehicle went through, the results were truly disappointing on several levels. The car didn’t have much to give in terms of its safety equipment. The safety features around the car include an airbag that is only meant for the driver. Besides that, the vehicle receives belt pre-tensioners and seatbelt reminders that come as standard in the vehicle that was tested for the crash.
The other features that were present in the car that crashed but not available as standard include the Anti-lock braking system (ABS), ESC, side chest, and front passenger airbags.
Lastly, the Picanto’s performance was bad across the adult protection category, particularly in the chest area, resulting in a zero across front and side impacts. Further, the vehicle also performed miserably in whiplash protection and child occupant protection.
