Kia’s new electric car to be revealed in Q1 2021
Kia is all set to introduce the world to its new electric vehicle, later in March this year. Following Kia’s vision for an electronic future (a necessary move to adapt to a better tomorrow), the unnamed car is expected to be a big move allowing the automaker to root for an electrical future.
The upcoming EV model is the automaker’s first (out of seven) EV in a plan for a greener future by 2027. Ho Sung Song, president, and CEO, of Kia Corporation, confirmed that “Our first dedicated EV, codenamed ‘CV’, will be revealed in the first quarter of this year.”
Interestingly, the upcoming EV car is supposed to revamp the automaker’s brand strategy with a new logo. This car will be the first in production to carry the new logo, followed by the company adapting to the new logo across its lineup, later next year.
It is expected to carry a similar design language as the ‘crossover’ concept that was highlighted at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show under the 'Imagine by Kia' tag. The upcoming car might be sporting strong lines, paired with a sloping roofline to add to its aggressive design. However, we are sure to witness Kia’s signature 'Tiger Nose' grille’ with a fresh retake on it.
Talking of the design aspect, the Senior Vice President and head of Kia Design Centre, Karim Habib, expressed that the brand “will be starting a new design philosophy”, that will come under the spotlight in a few weeks from now. We might even witness a new design or a completely revamped take.
Further, the boss of design also hinted that the CV will have its interior as one of its major highlights. He explained “One of the great things about the EV architecture is that it allows for a lot more flexibility and space in the interior. So, I do think that in terms of interior design, we’ll be able to create a very new experience for our customers.”
Developed on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, the Kia EV might have an appealing powertrain as well.
