Lamborghini Sian Roadster hybrid supercar unveiled
Lamborghini has recently introduced the world to its very recent and powerful offering, the Sian Roadster. Launched via an online video broadcast on the brand’s official website, this piece of art is exclusive to 19 units, making it a rare beauty.
The car’s limited model represents the brand’s foundation year, 1963. Another minute detail that makes it so special is its moniker ‘Sian FKP 37’. The ‘SKP’ are initials for Volkswagen Group chairman, Late Ferdinand Piech and the 37 represents the year he was born.
Lamborghini has built its name around delivering coupe variants, followed by a roadster. The Sian is the brand’s first-ever hybrid model, introduced back in 2019. Limited to 63 units, the predecessor came with a 6.5-litre V12 petrol engine mated to an electric motor.
Introduced with a major upgrade over its predecessor, the Sian Roadster comes with the world-first “supercapacitor in hybrid solution”, this development in the drivetrain is said to store around 10 times the capacity of an ideal lithium-ion cell.
Talking about its performance, the vehicle runs on a similar 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, generating a power output of up to 819 hp, giving a top speed of above 350 km per hour. The carmaker claims that the V12 reaches the top speed of 100 kmph under 2.9 seconds. Apart from the engine, the electric motor gives in 34 hp of pure electric power.
The exterior of the Sian Roadster displays a roofless design, paired to one of the most futuristic aerodynamical stylings. With sculptured contours and distinctive aero wings, the vehicle sets the image of a brutal speedster. Moreover, its Y-shaped headlights add on to the aerodynamical detailing of the car.
The Roadster variant of Sian gets unique window panes, helping the car in improving its aerodynamical efficiency. The design of the car allows it to channel the incoming air to the tail of the car and adjustable rear spoiler. Lamborghini claims that its roofless design won’t count as its inefficiency in terms of speed due to the futuristic design.
According to the automaker, all the 19 units of the supercar are already sold. So, enthusiasts looking to buy Sian have to wait until a used example comes up for sale.
