Lotus Type 132 officially named as Eletre

Lotus has officially named their much-awaited Type 132 vehicle. Now known as the Eletre, this vehicle is the first electric SUV from the carmaker. The car is set to debut tomorrow March 29th and here are some features and specifications we will get to see.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When will Lotus Eletre debut?

The Lotus Eletre will make its official debut tomorrow i.e. March 29, 2022.
  • The Eletre will be built on Lotus’s new modular EV platform known as Evolution. We speculate that the vehicle’s powertrains will get a dual-motor setup providing an output of 600 hp and 750 hp, respectively. It will also be equipped with an 800-volt electrical architecture that goes from 0-100 kmph in just three seconds.

From what we hear, the Eletre’s battery will be made as a collaboration between the British automaker and Britishvolt, a battery cell company. The new battery pack will also appear in all of Lotus’ next-gen electric sports cars.

The images also gave us a small view of the vehicle’s interiors. It will be fitted with ambient lighting strips with digital instrumentation and a multi-function octagonal steering wheel. There will also be a floating infotainment system with giant screens. The car will also receive illuminated paddles and switchgear that will also act as control switches during the drive mode.

Lotus also released some patent images a few days ago where we caught a glimpse of the vehicle’s exterior features. It will come with a roof-mounted Lidar sensor, backward and forward-facing cameras, along exterior mirror cameras. All these will be equipped on the vehicle’s sides that will also be fitted with interesting-looking door handles.

The Eletre is set to be manufactured under Wuhan Lotus Cars’ patent filing at the plant situated in China. That’s all we know for now. Stay tuned for more updates!
