If you have been keeping an eye on Lotus Car’s Youtube page, you might have seen the aesthetic new teaser being released by the carmaker about its upcoming SUV. Well, guess what? This upcoming SUV is set to be a fully electric vehicle, which will make its debut sometime around March 2022! Previously known as the Lambda, it has now been renamed as Type 132 and we have some high hopes from this model. So let’s take a look at what it has to offer.

  • While not much has been revealed about the car, the Youtube teaser reveals that the new SUV will feature an active grille, slim LED headlights, digital side mirrors, and a roof-mounted LIDAR sensor. The interior will also receive a floating slim infotainment system and its fancy start-up features displays of multiple lights and sounds. 

    We have also heard rumors that Lotus will be teaming up with Geely’s team from Germany, Sedan, and China to bring this premium model into the market. And the upcoming electric SUV might just feature Lotus’s new Evolution architecture to enhance its premium feel and quality. 

    The upcoming Type 132 might be equipped with an 800-volt battery producing a range of 600 km with every charge. The battery size is expected to be somewhere between 92 kWh and 120 kWh providing the SUV a run from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3 seconds. The SUV will also receive a powerful dual-motor setup with 600-750 horsepower. 

    Lastly, the upcoming fully electric Lotus SUV will either be produced at the brand’s factory in the UK or Geely's new factory in China’s Wuhan and is likely to be available in the commercial market somewhere around 2023. No more news has been released regarding the features of this new model but we can expect to hear real soon. So till then, stay tuned!
