Maserati MC20 leaked hours before its official debut

Photos of Maserati's upcoming offering, the MC20, have surfaced on the internet. The leak has happened hours before the mid-engined Italian supercar's official debut slated to take place at an event in Modena, Italy.

Previously, the vehicle was only seen as a prototype, wrapped in camouflage or over a series of 'official spy photos.' About the specifications of the MC20, Maserati had only revealed a little about the car's mechanical package and its capabilities.

From what seems to be, the Maserati MC20 is the beginning of a resurgence plan that will be introducing new models, following the footprints of the MC20. Interestingly, the car will also be the first to run on Maserati's all-new V6 engine called "Nettuno" (Neptune), set about the mythical character presenting the automaker's trident logo.

On the outside, the MC20 seems to be one of the best looking low-slung cars available in the market. The automaker has defined its design approach as a "natural evolution". Sharing the underpinning of the MC12, the MC20 shares a more defined aerodynamical stance in its design language, accompanied by a comprehensive lower intake.

The vertically placed headlamps add on to the edgy look of the car and give in to its wider stance. Other notable styling cues include vents on the bonnet, butterfly doors, stealthy door handles, and engine air intakes. Maserati has also worked on the wheels of the MC20, adding panels behind the rear wheels for improved performance. Moving to its rear, the car gets high-mounted dual exhausts that add to its distinctive styling.

Probably a major USP of the car apart from its looks, the MC20 is powered by a 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine that is completely in-house. The mill is a product of innovation with its 90-degree V architecture that runs on an 11:1 compression ratio. The engine successfully generates 621 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque, making the Maserati MC20 the fastest car by the automaker.

Inside, MC20 carries a smartly designed cabin covered in grey and blue, accompanied with sporty seats, a digital instrument cluster, and a touchscreen infotainment system, which also offers control in drive modes and suspension. The other features around the cabin are window controls, weather control, and navigation control.

The precise details about the new Maserati MC20 will be coming at the official debut.
