Maserati’s second SUV planned for debut in November
It was in September last year when we were initially introduced to the Grecale SUV, Maserati's second SUV in the portfolio after Levante. The name of the upcoming car has already set sail on the Maserati Multi 70 boat. As per the news, the Italian carmaker confirms that the SUV will be unveiled in November this year.
Naming cars after the most famous winds in the world looks like a tradition for the Maserati brand. It all started with the legendary Mistral in 1963, following which, the automaker continued with the tradition with its offerings like the Bora, Ghibli, Khamsin, and Merak.
With the brand’s first-ever SUV named Levante in 2016, its turn for the Grecale's, a strong north-east wind of the Mediterranean.
Talking of the name which Maserati had put on the new mainsail of Giovanni Soldini’s “laboratory boat”, the automaker explained, “Just like the wind moves the sails and leads the trimaran to victory, it is once again a wind to carry a new model into the range.”
Spy shots reveal that the Grecale might be a sleek-looking crossover, giving out a sleek aerodynamic look, paired with a sharp, curvy rear-fender styling. Talking of the design feature, the larger Levante seems to have been cropped, to fit the size of this minimized Grecale.
The new SUV is protruding with an oval grille, the Maserati’s trident badge reveals center and front. While the car is still wrapped in camouflage, we don’t get to see much of the rear to give us a look at the design. Further, you’ll also notice that the car gets a small roof spoiler, suspended from the hatch and quad-exit exhaust pipes.
Furthermore, the two SUVs do share their underpinnings, though both will sport a distinctive style.
Lastly, while the automaker has not provided us a specific date and time to tune in for the reveal, we are expecting some details around the car when the time of its launch is near.
