Meet Kia's latest A-segment SUV, Sonet
The South Korean auto manufacturer, Kia recently revealed its highly awaited sub-compact SUV, Sonet, for India via a virtual global premiere. The highly anticipated automobile is third in the line of offerings by the automaker, followed by Seltos SUV and Carnival MUV.
The Sonet was previously showcased as a concept at the Auto Expo, earlier this year. At the time of expo, Kia showcased an almost-production-ready version of the vehicle. The Indian-spec Sonet is the first in its segment to get the sporty GT Line trim, providing an array of engine and transmission options.
The Sonet GT-Line trim serves as an addition to the overall sporty appeal of the car. It comes with a black high glossy grille with GT Line logo in red accent. On the inside, it gets red stitching on the steering wheel, seats, and door armrest.
Talking about their latest offering, Ho Sung Song, President and CEO at Kia Motors Corporation, exclaimed, "The Sonet fills a need in the growing SUV market, in India and further afield, and will attract a wider number of consumers to the Kia brand. With this vehicle, we are taking a direct aim at the segment leaders not only in India but across the world."
Sonet will be offered in two petrol and one diesel engine option. The vehicle carries 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated and a 1.0-litre turbocharged powerplants. Interestingly, Sonet will also be introduced with a newly introduced 6-speed iMT (intelligent manual transmission). Coming to the diesel offering, a 1.5-litre diesel engine with both manual and automatic transmission options will be on offer.
Moving inside, the Sonet displays an array of first in segment features. The interior showcase a 10.25-inch AVNT, smart key remote engine start, and ventilated seats. One of the car's major highlights is that it gets India's first smart pure air purifier with virus protection. Interestingly, Sonet also comes with Kia's native suite of UVO connected technology with 57 features, including the seamless UVO - Voice Assist.
Lastly, the price point of Sonet is yet to be disclosed by the automakers. We hope Kia Singapore brings the all-new Sonet to our shores soon.
