MoH announces resumption of ticket sales for the Vaccinated Travel Lane with halved quota
The Ministry of Health (MoH) has officially announced the resumption of ticket sales between Malaysia and Singapore with immediate effect for the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL). This includes both the VTL land and air schemes which were temporarily suspended on December 23, 2021.
The statement issued read, "MoH wishes to notify the public that bus and air tickets for both VTL initiatives have been reopened from today onwards." However, the ministry added that the quota for both the travel ways had been halved for what it was before.
MoH also said they would conduct risk assessments at regular intervals to ensure their plan is effective or mandates further revision.
The statement read, "passengers who have purchased tickets for travel dates after January 20, 2022, before the announcement on the suspension of the ticket sales were made, they are allowed to continue their journey using the VTL initiative according to the quota, set earlier."
Besides that, the MoH also asked all VTL travelers to do a personal RTK-Ag antigen test on the second, fourth and sixth day after arrival and a professional RTK-Ag test on the third and fifth days of arrival.
Malaysia and Singapore initiated the VTL program for land and air travel on November 29. But after Singapore detected a Covid-19 cluster concerning the highly-transmissible Omicron variant, the airlines and bus operators in Malaysia were directed by MoH to temporarily suspend the sale of travel tickets under the VTL scheme.
