NIO to offer EV vehicles in Germany in Q4 2022
The Chinese EV automaker NIO plans to enter the German auto market with its unique electric cars in the fourth quarter of 2022. It has been confirmed via a tweet by the brand’s director of communications, Florian Otto.
The tweet stated, “Strong! NIO will join very soon. Coming to Germany in 2022 (Q4),” which makes it clear that after Norway, Germany will be the brand’s second market.
Also, we know that Norway has the highest concentration of electric vehicles across the globe, and they have plans of complete electrification by banning diesel and petrol-powered vehicles by 2025.
Recently, it has been seen that the rise of EV sales has been increasing in Norway and the Government says that they will be able to achieve complete EV sales by as early as April 2022.
Nio launched its ES8 SUV in Norway on September 30, which uses two motors that churns out 400 kW (536 hp) and 725 Nm of torque. The brand has offered two battery options - 75 kWh and 100 kWh. If you are looking for a better range, the second battery option would be the most suitable trim.
Talking about the pricing, it starts from NOK 609,000 (RM296,768), which is quite decent considering the performance and features on offer. Another interesting benefit for the Norwegians is that they can buy the car without the battery and then select Nio’s Battery as a Service (BaaS).
Moving to the range of the vehicle, the brand claims that the standard variant can return 375 km, and the long-range variant can return a massive 500 km.
After the ES8 SUV, the Chinese automaker now aims to launch the ET7 sedan, which is about to reach the mass production stage. It was revealed in January 2021 and had a sleek design with a dual motor setup.
The front axle motor can generate 245 PS, whereas the rear one can put out 408 PS. Thus, combined output stands at 653 PS and 850 Nm of peak torque. The latter is sufficient to aid the vehicle in achieving 0-100 kmph in just 3.9 seconds.
When it comes to the range, it can offer a 500 km range with the 70 kWh battery pack and a massive 700 km range with the 100 kWh battery pack. In late 2022, the brand will offer a 150 kWh battery pack that returns the 1,000 km range.
