Renault plans revolution with its “Renaulution”
Renault is all set to unveil its new strategic planning, at the beginning of the decade. The event which is all set to take place on January 14, is called “Renaulution,” and will be addressed by the CEO himself. As per reports by Automobilwoche, the plan is expected to focus on cutting costs and scaling down the lineup.
While the automaker refused to announce the name of the models that will be axed from its lineup, the move was expected to take place soon, given the effects of Covid on sales. The aim of the entire “Renaultation” revolves around reducing the plethora of services and the lineup by around 30%.
Since there is no clear statement from the carmaker, we can’t really understand the models that will be discontinued. However, considering the change in volumes of production by Renault, the best guess is the automaker might discontinue manufacturing of Espace, Scenic and Talisman, all of which have dropped in terms of sales & production.
Further, the event will also emphasise on avoiding “technology fields that are not immediately usable” and align their focus towards developing a reliable infrastructure to eliminate profits taken away by third-party vendors and suppliers. All of the suggested moves are expected to reduce the profits that are lost and will also modernise the Renault Group, making it more profitable than before.
As per the latest press conference, the CEO Meo also admitted to be aiming for a more realistic global strategy. He also claimed that their “geographic expansion has not produced the expected results.”
However, there lies one interesting take in the decision, the Renault CEO said that its alliance members, Nissan and Mitsubishi, will be moving to the “second league of car manufacturers.” This way, the brand will develop a reliable cycle of manufacturing.
Lastly, given the global trend, we might also get to hear some news around Renault’s future for electrification, in the event that is due for January 2021.
