Rolls Royce Silent Shadow EV under development

Rolls Royce Silent Shadow EV under development

Rolls Royce confirms its movement towards the future, affirms the upcoming EV project. While the British Luxury automaker has been developing hybrid cars since 2017, it’s no surprise that the automaker had agreed to move to an EV platform in the near future.

According to Automotive News Europe, the automaker has declared that it is currently working on an all-new EV called ‘Silent Shadow’. Last year, the BMW AG division filed for a trademark with its German patent office. The patent was to get rights over the name Silent Shadow, giving the new name a nod to the Silver Shadow model that was manufactured between 1965 - 1980.

Rolls-Royce’s Chief Executive Officer Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes stayed silent on the potential launch date, saying “That is still a secret." However, the officer added, “But it will of course obviously be a brand-new Rolls-Royce, rest assured."

Furthermore, the Chief Executive Officer also added that “Electrification fits perfect with Rolls-Royce – it’s torquey, it’s super silent. We are not known for roaring loud engines and exhaust noises whatsoever, and that is a big benefit.”

Looking at the statements that the automaker made, we can expect similar levels of opulence and luxury in its EV. The car might be a product of potentially ultra-bespoke creations, similar to the revived Rolls-Royce Coachbuild.

Exploring a bit more about the design feature of the car, it is expected to draw design inspiration from the 2016 103EX Concept. The upcoming EV might be sleek in shape and is expected to pack all the advanced technology by the automaker.

The report also said that while the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has significantly affected the demand for new cars globally, luxury cars like Rolls-Royce are hitting an all-time high. As per the automaker, it has already completed booking for its production run for the current year.

Lastly, at the time of its arrival, the upcoming EV Silent Shadow might be limited in production numbers as the automaker is known to deliver exquisite luxury.
