Skoda Kushaq to debut on March 18; launch expected in May
Remember the glimpse we had of the concept Skoda Vision IN at the 2020 Auto Expo in India? The automaker has now revealed the official reveal date of this concept-turned-compact SUV, the Kushaq.
The production model of the Skoda Kushaq has already been made public, albeit in complete camouflage. In fact, Zigwheels India has even driven the prototype of the upcoming SUV. So this means, we can say a lot about the car already.
To begin with, the upcoming Skoda Kushaq will be available in two petrol trims - 1.5-litre TSI and a smaller 1.0-litre TSI. Though these are familiar engines, the feel is quite different. The top-class motor comes to its own from as low as 1,400 RPM and continues linear power supply to the wheels till the 6,000 RPM mark. As for the transmission, the 1.0-litre petrol will get a 6-speed automatic and manual gearboxes, while the bigger 1.5-litre model will replace the automatic for a 7-speed DCT.
Aesthetically, this production version of the Skoda Kushaq retails a lot of designing elements from the concept Vision IN. It is built on the smallest modular platform, MQB-A0 from Volkswagen Group. The signature butterfly grille makes its way on the car’s front. There are LED projector headlamps and roof rails as well. The car will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels.
Not only the exterior, but Skoda has also retained a lot of elements for the interior as well. There are a lot of premium feature additions and safety tech. The compact SUV will get electronic stability control, six airbags, ABS and EBD, hill hold control, and parking sensors, to name a few.
The unveiling will take place via an online live event, which will be streamed on the automaker’s official handles of YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
