The #1, an electric SUV by smart, has been officially launched in China. Set to be offered in two trims - Pro+ and Premium - the #1 is the first product from the stable of the joint venture that involves Geely and Mercedes-Benz.

    Powering the smart #1 is an electric motor that is capable of producing 272PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 343 Nm. The rear-wheel-driven SUV can sprint from 0-100kmph in 6.7 seconds before topping out at 180kmph. The electric motor on the smart #1 gets its juice from a lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) battery, which has a capacity of 66kWh. The Pro+ and the Premium trims offer a single-charge range of 535km and 560km, respectively.

    The Premium offers a longer range because of its battery featuring silicon carbide (SiC) technology. A 7.2kW charger can fill the #1’s battery from 10-80% state of charge in under 7.5 hours. A 150kW DC charger can achieve the same feat in a mere 30 minutes. Moreover, a Brabus-branded version of the #1, which will also flaunt a dual-motor setup, will further extend the electric SUV’s lineup.

    Speaking of the equipment onboard on the two trims, we have 18/19-inch alloy wheels LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED taillights, a 9.2/10-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control with an N95 cabin filter, powered front seats, and a 13-speaker Beats sound system, among others. The Premium trim also gets the smart Pilot suite of Level 2 safety and driver assistance systems.
