Toyota puts a ban on resale of the Land Cruiser 300 Series
Toyota SUVs have earned a decent name worldwide. The brand is celebrated by many and also has its SUVs listed in the police’s fleet across countries. Given the success of its offerings, the automaker recently came into the spotlight when it acquired over 22,000 pre-orders for its latest Land Cruiser 300 in Japan alone.
The latest Land Cruiser 300 model has been a great hit due to its design and functionalities. However, what makes the car more interesting is the clause that makes it forbidden for the buyers of the Cruiser 300 from reselling the sporty road beast.
As per the latest reports from the Japanese site Mag-X, the automaker has temporarily suspended the pre-orders for the new SUV. Because the new owners of the car are required to sign a pledge to not sell their vehicles to export markets within 12 months of purchase.
If under any circumstance, the automaker feels that the car is likely to be re-sold, it will cancel the order. The movement is said to keep track of the car's resale and assure that it doesn’t get into the wrong hands of militant forces.
As per the automaker’s official statement, “Toyota dealers and Toyota Motor Corporation share a common understanding that when selling vehicles to customers in Japan, the sale does not end [there>, but that each dealership will continue a responsible relationship with the customer including after-sales service, in order to protect the safety and security of the customer.”
To add to it, the owner continued, “In addition, the Land Cruiser is particularly popular overseas, and we are concerned about the flow of the vehicles overseas from Japan immediately after their release, including the possibility of them being exported to specific markets where security regulations are in place.”
The reason for Toyota’s drastic measure followed after the United States government raised the question of militant organizations having so many Toyota vehicles. Lastly, with its reformed movements, the automaker seeks to restore orders.
