Toyota teased a new US bound crossover, debut set for June 2

Toyota has teased a new crossover offering for its buyers in the US with a twist. From what seems to be a vague design sketch with no information around the car, we are up with some ideas of our own.

While nobody can figure out the upcoming offering with the vague sketch, the car in question could be the Corolla Cross. The car was being extensively tested in and around the US, giving us strong hints on what could be the upcoming Toyota in the market.

Talking about some comparisons with the vague design feature of the car, the sole image resonates well with a very familiar silhouette.

The minimalist side profile graphic design that surfaced on the internet presents us with an idea of a sporty crossover that is present with sweeping fenders on the front and rear. Besides the fenders, the sketch also presents us with an idea of a window line that takes a dip downwards, before making a steep rise rising steeply towards its rear.

However, the Japanese automaker has left us with no hints and the only thing they had to say about their upcoming offering is that "Even the most iconic works of art are born from a simple sketch." As explained earlier, these sketches (more or less), tell us about aggressive fenders that give us the idea of a high riding car, possibly the Corolla Cross.

Yes, Toyota continues to sell its C-HR, but selling a US-based variant of the Toyota Corolla Cross might be the correct idea. The brand revealed the Corolla Cross last year across several regions in Asia. However, the automaker didn’t acknowledge their offering into the company's stateside lineup.

Given that the ASEAN-market Corolla Cross shares engines with the US-market Corolla Sedan, we can expect the same for the US market. This list includes 137 hp/172 Nm 1.8L Dual VVT-i and a hybrid variant that is paired to a 96 hp/142 Nm 2ZR-FXE Atkinson-cycle mill, paired to a 70 hp and 163 Nm battery pack.
