Toyota unveils the bZ4X EV concept
After marking years of hybrid expertise, Toyota has finally pulled the wraps off its first all-electric car concept, the bZ4X. As per sources, the automaker is planning a serious offensive strategy with the intent of releasing up to 15 EVs by 2025.
The future electric lineup by the automaker includes seven mainstream bZ offerings (short for beyond Zero), with the initial being the bZ4X concept. The upcoming offering by Toyota will be developed under a collaboration with Subaru, expected to be available in its production form in mid-2022.
While the car is currently in its concept format, it has made its debut at the Auto Shanghai show. The bZ4X marks a similar stance to the RAV4-sized C-segment SUV that is based on the e-TNGA modular platform.
Talking about the exterior of the car, it picks up a bold and elegant appeal in its concept format. The car makes complete use of its sharp creases and contrasting gloss black elements. The front-end of its design eliminates the huge lower grille for a decent-sized central inlet and an upper black panel.
On its rear, the car flaunts trapezoidal headlights, featuring L-shaped LED daytime running lights, paired to a number of projectors. All in all, the car dawns on one of the best designs by the automaker, highlighting a series of character lines.
While there is no such information on the power, driving range, or performance figures that have been published by the automaker, we expect the best from its 20 years of craftsmanship around electric powertrains. However, the reports suggest two motors onboard, one on each axle, and an all-wheel drive.
Lastly, the automaker claims that its upcoming offering will be powered by solar charging capability, allowing the car to recharge itself on sunny days. However, we clearly expect the car to carry some more outstanding features.
