VinFast and ZF teamed up for Level 2+ autonomous driving tech

With the commencement of 2022, Vietnam’s leading automaker VinFast has released an official statement, confirming its partnership with ZF with an idea to assemble advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) for an easier and more leisurely driving experience. 

It is said that the systems will permit VinFast and ZF to acquire Level 2+ autonomy for their designed vehicles and would also enable them to devise more advanced features, including Highway Driving Chauffeur, Traffic Jam Pilot, and Automated Valet Parking, utilizing the radars, cameras, LiDAR sensors and other supplements sent in by ZF. 

The official statement made it crystal clear that all the supplements sent in by ZF would be functioning within ZF's central control unit. 

Shortly after getting the official statement, VinFast global chief executive Le Thi Thu Thuy voiced how the company plans to align safety, sustainability, and leisure symmetrically as they are well aware of what the future holds for the automobile industry. 

It is worth acknowledging that the Vietnamese company has constantly been putting in the effort to develop their automated driving systems alongside ZF in China, throughout North America, and Germany and plans to make it public by mid-2022.

VinFast confirmed that it will continue its partnership with ZF even after getting done with the Level 2+ functions. That's because they aim to integrate their work further to assemble a more sophisticated sensor advancing the automated functionality to level 3 and more, over the coming years. 

Besides that, ZF board of management member Martin Fischer stated, "We look forward to working with VinFast to bring higher levels of autonomy to their light passenger vehicles." 

"Elevating the capabilities of all forms of mobility is our goal. The design and development of higher-level AD systems will assist drivers all over the world in enjoying enhanced degrees of safety, convenience and intelligence” he added.
