Step inside the cabin, and the overall dashboard and cabin design of the Mercedes Benz CLS Coupe looks very much similar to that of the E-Class Coupe positioned just below it in the lineup of Mercedes Benz. 

The flat-bottom multi-functional steering wheel with silver spokes and the large and wide instrument console and infotainment system adjoined together looks super crisp and futuristic. The rest of the dashboard design, including the three-layered wraparound design with the middle layer featuring round AC vents, and the cascading theme for the center console makes the cabin look very smooth. One can choose from a range of color combinations and upholsteries for the interior.

While there is no dearth of comfort and convenience-oriented features in the cabin of the Mercedes Benz CLS Coupe, one has to compromise with space at the back. The high running transmission tunnel and sloping roofline rob off a substantial amount of shoulder room and headroom at the back.

The Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe has always been one visually arresting vehicle, and this latest generation of the coupe feels even more soothing to look at. The trademark curvy design now features Mercedes Benz’s latest design philosophy, thus making it much more modern to withstand the fast-changing times.

The front look of the Mercedes Benz CLS Coupe has been heavily tweaked in this latest generation model, with a large grille featuring rounded edges, tapering sides, diamond-themed inserts, and a large chrome line flowing through the width of the grille. The headlamps too are all new units, with the upswept triangular-shaped headlamps featuring revamped LED daytime running lights and projectors. The front bumper looks very much similar to that of the S-Class with the large air dams on the center and corners of the bumper.

Moving towards the side, and the Mercedes Benz CLS Coupe tries to retain the design of its predecessor very much with the rounded roofline and dual frameless doors on either side. The entire window line, which looks very curvy, is finished in chrome, and the outside rearview mirrors are mounted on the doors. The overall profile looks very smooth with a slightly bulging character line flowing through the doors.

At the back, the Mercedes Benz CLS Coupe gets inverted trapezoidal LED tail lamps stretched horizontally, making the already rear profile look even wider. The boot lid design resorts to minimalism and looks classy without going too overboard.

Despite the limited space at the rear, the Mercedes-Benz CLS Coupe impresses overall with its super comfortable ride quality and agile handling. The coupe is bestowed with all the electronically-aided amenities like air body control, dynamic body control, and driving assistance package, which do enable the driver to adjust all the comfort settings for the air-controlled suspension setup.

The Mercedes Benz CLS Coupe is offered in two variants – CLS 350 and CLS 450. The CLS 350 gets a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which makes 300 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. The CLS 450, on the other hand, has a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine under its hood, which puts up 370 PS of power and 500 Nm of torque. A 9-speed automatic gearbox is common to both of them.

With features like front, side, overhead, and knee airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, automatic emergency braking, electronic stability control, blind-spot monitoring system, lane departure warning, attention assist, active distance assist, lane-keeping assist, traction control, and many more, the Mercedes Benz CLS Coupe feels quite rich in terms of safety features as well.

While the Mercedes Benz CLS Coupe has a praiseworthy set of engines and fantastic driving dynamics and ride quality, one can’t deny the fact that the core aspect of this car has to be its stunning design. With the swooping and rounded design, frameless doors, and highly opulent cabin brimmed with features, the Mercedes Benz CLS Coupe is one head-turner for sure.
