Renault Kangoo Electric

The interior of the Renault Kangoo Electric Van is just what you expect of a small van. Simple and decent layout with adequate storage space. It comes with a central storage compartment between the driver and passenger seat. The majority of the dash and other parts of the interiors are clad with hard plastics which are considerably smooth to touch. 

Features on the inside include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, an optional 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, and an analog instrument cluster. 

Renault has definitely put in efforts to make this EV look stylish, modern, and unique and the design definitely stands out. Not just that, the van stands out in terms of appearance and you can barely find a more attractive and sporty van in the market. 

The electrical retractable side mirrors are convenient and the van features halogen headlights and front fog lamps. 

The van offers a pretty decent driving experience with light and responsive steering. What makes it different and definitely better than regular vans is the lower centre of gravity. This is enabled by the batteries being placed in the floor plan. The ride quality in the Kangoo Electric is definitely commendable, with the added weight of the batteries keeping the van more stable on the road. 

The suspension is pretty efficient and the car pretty much dismisses all potholes and rough road surfaces The ‘Eco’ mode is incredibly effective and increases the range to a great extent by the urgency of any aggressive acceleration. 

The Renault Kangoo Electric gets a mentionable battery upgrade from 22kWh to 33kWh. It can be one of the key USPs of the EV and the engine can make power up to 59 hp and a peak torque of around 225 Nm. The R60 motor on the vehicle is based on the same R90 motor in the Renault Zoe. The throttle response is nimble and might seem to be a little dull. Nonetheless, the engine does enough to offer decent mid-range performance for a swift drive around the city. 

The EV gets a bigger battery that offers a better range, but along with that, it also has better charging time than before. It supports single-phase 7kW (32A) chargers. It will take around six hours to fully charge the battery but you can also go for a quick charge top-up, which is now made possible.  The best part is that with just an hour of charging, the electric van is good to go for almost 40 additional kilometres. Along with all that, the engine is incredibly silent with minimal noise at all speeds.

The brakes are pretty efficient in terms of stopping power for the small van, even when it is loaded to its max payload capacity. The vehicle also comes with two airbags for the safety of the occupants, while traction control also counts in as an important feature.

With a better battery range, faster charging, and load-lugging capabilities at par with diesel vans, the Renault Kangoo Electric Van is definitely a great investment. With zero emissions, minimal running costs, and  really low noise, this EV is just perfect for city rides and a great choice for a metropolitan delivery van that comes at quite an attractive price.
