Renault Zoe Electric

Being a modern-day electric car, the Renault Zoe Electric manages to carry a futuristic image, thanks to a very unique interior cabin layout, which is a mix of traditional design ethos and modern features. The cabin has got an all-black theme with contrasting and cool looking blue highlights on the dashboard, door panels, around the transmission lever, center console and even the backlit for the instrument console.

The three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel of the Renault Zoe Electric looks quite conventional, however, the sleek and minimalist LCD screen for the instrument console behind it doesn’t look conventional at all. The center console of the dashboard has a slightly protruding out design, with it getting the complete piano black theme and a touchscreen infotainment system at the top, two rectangular AC vents below it and automatic climate control buttons at the bottom.

The Renault Zoe Electric is pitched by the French carmaker as an urban car, and in that direction, it has got the perfect stance and design to start with. This production-spec model of the Renault Zoe Electric available stays very near to the concept model on which it is based, with very limited differentiating design cues from the latter.

The Renault Zoe Electric carries a minimalist and cutesy appeal at the front, with the small and rakish front bonnet ending up in a sleek front grille. The grille in question here is a T-shaped piano-black garnish with a huge Renault logo, with bird’s eye-shaped headlamps on either side. These headlamps might look wide, but they house a tiny LED projector in them, which get blue accents to show its electric vehicle essence. There are boomerang-shaped daytime running LEDs placed on a rather cleaner looking front bumper.

The side profile of the Renault Zoe Electric gets some athletic bits in the form of a couple of sharp character lines – one flowing from the edge of the headlamp and merging with the window waistline and the other from the front door handle to the edge of the tail lamp.

The Renault Zoe Electric gets four doors, but has a two-door look, thanks to the rear door handles hidden in the C-pillar. To make it look premium, Renault has finished the B-pillar and rearview mirrors in piano black theme, with the car getting machined alloy wheels.

At the back, the Renault Zoe Electric carries forward its cutesy appeal with a rounded rear windscreen with curved edges and diamond-shaped clear lens LED tail lamps with curved edges.

The compact nature of the Renault Zoe Electric makes it a very easy to drive city car, which is perfect to tackle the daily heavy bustle of city traffic. The car gets premium suspension setup of Macpherson struts at the front and semi-rigid axle at the rear, which is tuned on a slightly stiffer side to match with the sporty steering setup.

The Renault Zoe Electric sources its power from a lithium-ion battery paired with a synchronous motor, the power output of which stands at 92 PS and the torque output at 225 Nm. These figures do make the small Renault Zoe Electric quite zippy to drive, thanks to its compact size and weight. However, here, the fun factor meets the frugality factor too, as the Renault Zoe Electric has a maximum drive range of 367 km.

The Renault Zoe Electric is equipped with a decently sufficient list of safety features, which has front and side airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control with anti-slip regulation, hill start assist, reverse parking sensors with camera and voice-audible safety warning for pedestrians. 

The Renault Zoe Electric is a perfect solution for those who are looking out for an easy to drive and economical option for tackling daily traffic scenes with ease. The compact car might not be high on space, but it is definitely high on fun factor, frugality and ease of driving.
