Skoda Superb

On the inside, the Skoda Superb is in its best form of luxury blended well with practicality. For the Singapore market, the sedan gets an all black treatment with contrast red elements on seats and dashboard which also accentuate its sporty side.

The driver’s cockpit looks fantastic with a sober-looking multi-functional steering wheel and the virtual cockpit enabled instrument console. The trapezoidal AC vents look neat and the layered design for the dashboard speaks uniformity. There is a fine layer of piano black treatment flowing through the middle of the dashboard with a sleek red layer above it.

At the centre of the dashboard sits an inverted trapezoidal touchscreen infotainment system with a piano black finish on sides and a flowing tunnel below it housing the controls for the automatic climate control and transmission lever. 

The Skoda Superb gets many top-notch features like black leather upholstery, panoramic sunroof, powered and heated front seats with memory function, ambient lighting, three-zone automatic climate control, Canton sound system, keyless entry with push-button start and an electric tailgate. Thanks to the long wheelbase and subtle width, space at the rear are simply massive.

With the recent facelift, the Skoda Superb has only become sharper and much more noteworthy than ever before. The traditional Skoda’s design elements blend well with the new changes introduced, which do give it a fresh and noticeable road presence.

At the front, the Skoda Superb has got the familiar butterfly grille which has grown larger in size and gets much more pronounced vertical slats within it and richer looking chrome finish. The angular trapezoidal all-LED headlamps look very sleek and get a thin but super bright daytime running LED at their bottom. The new sleek bar like LED fog lamps look cool and are placed within edgy side extensions of the front bumper.

The Skoda Superb has always had a poised stance from the sides, and it continues to have even now thanks to its elongated profile with a stretched wheelbase. The rounded wheel arches over the nice machined alloy wheels and the crisp character line flowing sideways with bulge over front fender give it a certain elegance to it.

The Skoda Superb, when viewed from the back, looks crisp with wide Skoda lettering in the middle of the boot lid and the large trapezoidal tail lamps with a refreshing looking C-shaped LED inserts. The chrome garnish on the boot lid and rear bumper add more premium appeal here.

The Skoda Superb is highly referred to as a chariot on four wheels, and that is all down to the extremely comfortable ride quality it offers. Due to a much longer wheelbase, there is a slight amount of body roll which can be felt at higher speeds, but that is also something which is too mild.

The only engine and gearbox combination one can have for the Skoda Superb in Singapore is a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The engine is capable of belting out a maximum power output of 190 PS and a peak torque output of 320 Nm.

The Skoda Superb gets a comprehensive list of safety features, with it including front, side, curtain and knee airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control, traction control, cornering fog lamps, front assist with city emergency brake, side assist with rear cross-traffic alert, rearview camera with park distance control, cruise control, driver alert system, tire pressure monitoring system and dynamic chassis control.

With all of its positive traits and characters like sophisticated styling and equipment in and out, luxurious and highly spacious cabin, supple ride quality and powerful petrol engine, the Skoda Superb simply justifies its name.
