Toyota Previa Review 2024

One of the most underrated MPVs available in the Singapore market right now, the Toyota Previa is designed for all those people who want a distinctive appeal in their MPV without compromising on the aspect of practicality. Toyota Previa Interior & Features

The Toyota Previa has a sense of distinctive in the way its cabin has laid out as well, however, the first impression is not as strong as that created by its exterior design. The all-black cabin of the Previa does get a whole lot of attention on the center of the dashboard, which might make it look cluttered for many people.

The Toyota Previa gets a three-spoke multifunctional steering wheel, which looks simple. However, the instrument console is placed in the middle of the dashboard, on its upper layer, in an unconventional manner. The centre console houses a simple infotainment system and a panel below it, which houses the controls for automatic climate control and transmission lever placed beside each other.

The Previa has a major focus on the comfort of the passengers inside, which is why it gets captain Ottoman seats in the second row and enough room for all the three rows. There are many creature comforts on offer as well, such as dual moonroofs, three-zone automatic climate control, electrically controlled sliding side doors, and tailgate, powered front seats, push-button start with keyless entry and many more.

Previa Exterior

The Toyota Previa is now in existence in its basic form for quite a long time now, however, it still makes a strong case for itself and looks much more modern than even many of the new generation MPVs. The sci-fi kind of design surely gives the Toyota Previa its very own identity.

The front fascia of the Toyota Previa looks sleek with horizontally stretched triangular LED headlamps, which along with the very thin grille it gets in the middle joining them, looks elegant. A thin L-shaped strip of chrome starts from the bottom edge of the headlamp, which extends all the way down to the bumper’s bottom. In the middle of the bumper is placed a large hexagonal shaped air dam with rounded edges.

The Toyota Previa looks very aerodynamic when viewed from the sides, thanks to the sloping bonnet and windscreen which are almost inclined at the same angle. The door panels and fenders don’t come with significant looking creases, which make it simple yet elegant. The doors do open with a sliding manner, the opening and closing functions of which are electrically controlled. The machined alloy wheels and blackened pillars do add a dash of style to the vehicle.

At the back too, the Toyota Previa looks smart with sleek looking horizontally laid tail lamps with LED inserts, which have a thin strip of chrome joining them.

Toyota Previa Ride & Handling

The Toyota Previa is one very comfortable place on wheels to be in, thanks to a supple setup provided by Macpherson struts at the front and torsion beam at the rear. The 17-inch wheels are too shod with good and grippy tires, however, the light steering and body roll are something which makes the overall driving experience a bit dull.

Previa Engine & Fuel Consumption

The Toyota Previa has a single-engine and transmission option available for itself, which is a 2.4-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine mated to a CVT gearbox. The engine produces a decent power and torque output of 167 PS and 224 Nm respectively. The linear power delivery of the engine is not too exciting but scores well in terms of refinement.

Toyota Previa Braking & Safety

A decent list of safety features is present there in the Toyota Previa, which includes front, side, curtain and knee airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, vehicle stability control, traction control, rear parking sensors and rear camera.

Previa Verdict

With a sci-fi-like styling, the Toyota Previa still manages to look elegant and futuristic, this enhancing its road presence even after all these years. And while the interior styling is not designed to impress everyone, its core focus on comfort and practicality surely is.
