2022 Honda Civic e:HEV hybrid breaks cover
Honda has finally given us the first look into the Euro-spec Civic e:HEV hybrid model and we couldn’t be more excited! Following an entire generation, the new model marks Honda’s re-entry into the petrol-electric engine power department. Let’s check out what this model has to offer.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What powers the Honda Civic hybrid?
The Civic hybrid gets its energy from the most powerful iteration of the brand’s Intelligent Multi-Mode Drive drivetrain. To begin with, the automaker has only revealed that the electric motor for the Euro-spec Civic is going to derive its power from an Atkinson-cycle 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine and will have a power output of 184 PS and a maximum torque of 315 Nm. However, the total combined power output is touted to be higher than the Accord’s 215 PS.
Interestingly, that’s not all! The most exciting aspect of the upcoming hybrid from Honda revolves around the design feature. The car has been rekindled with a futuristic design approach, with the idea of an upgraded Civic car in the frame.
The upcoming car which is limited to a hatchback-style resembles a similar style to its Japanese counterpart. Talking of the design cues, it will have a smaller “forehead” with tall hexagonal mesh on the front grille. It will also have a lighter resin tailgate with trapezoidal exhausts and full-width tail lights. Overall, the hatchback version will be 125 mm shorter than the sedan version.
Moving inside, the interior for the Civic hybrid will have the same look as the other global Civic models. It will have the same 9.0-inch freestanding touchscreen, full-width air vents with a metal mesh cover, and a horizontal dashboard.
The upcoming vehicle is expected to come accompanied by tons of cool features. It will have almost 11 airbags, including a centre airbag, rear side airbags, and front dual knee airbags. It will have every Honda driver assistance system like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, low-speed AEB, etc.
That’s all we know for now. Stay tuned for more updates!
