Honda showcased its SUV e-concept at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition
Honda revealed the first glimpse of its SUV e-concept at the 2020 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition (Auto China 2020). The e-concept is an upcoming model that is hinted to be a mass-production model of the automaker’s first-ever electric vehicle (EV) in China.
Still, in the concept stage, the upcoming SUV looks quite striking with its angular cues that add to its sporty appeal. The concept vehicle also sports a covered-up upper grille that bears the Honda logo and the styling is also complemented by slim LED headlamps.
Moving to its sides, the concept vehicle rolls on 21-inch wheels that also gets two upward-swinging doors to add to the visual appeal of the car.
While there are no such details on the powertrain of the concept vehicle, it might adapt to both AC and DC fast charging. The upcoming model will also feature omnidirectional ADAS that is Honda’s next-gen safety and driver-assistive system.
Talking of its upcoming offering, the automaker claims to be “striving to develop a mass-production EV model which will offer a value based on mobility experiences that remain fresh and fun for customers.” To achieve this feat, the car will also be laden with a plethora of ride assistance features like improved prediction, recognition, and decision-making performance with the help of an AI interface.
On the inside, the vehicle is expected to come with abundant ambient lighting and a portrait-format touchscreen that “flows” on the centre console. Interestingly, the concept also sports a rectangular-shaped steering wheel.
Lastly, the automaker confirms to test their ADAS feature in China before making it accessible to the rest of the world by the end of this year.
