Latest Update: Honda recently revealed the 2023 HR-V that is set to launch in the global market in the month of June this year. This second-gen model is based on the same platform as the Honda Civic and comes with an updated front end. As for Singapore, the HR-V is in its old-gen variant and is made available in three trims starting from S$ 133,999.

The Honda HR-V has successfully established itself as one of the most popular premium compact SUV, with its reliability and a distinctive design which feels second to none. The Honda HR-V in Singapore is being offered in two variants – DX and Plus DX, both of which are priced at $93,999 and $99,999 respectively, with the colour options of Brownish Amethyst, Platinum White, Silver Mist Green, Midnight Blue Beam, Lunar Silver, Ruse Black, and Premium Crystal Red.

Honda HR-V Interior & Features
On the inside, the Honda HR-V has a typical Honda cabin with the driver-centric approach and an all-black cabin making it look and feel sporty yet hugely practical.
The multifunctional steering wheel along with the three rounded dials in the instrument console is a combination that is a direct lift-off from the Honda City and serves the purpose very well as a functional driver’s cockpit.
The centre console is tilted slightly towards the driver side and houses a large touchscreen infotainment system with asymmetrical AC vents on its either sides – trapezoidal on its right and ling and sleek vent housing on its left. The trapezoidal touch-sensitive console for the automatic climate control too is a nice and futuristic touch here.
Equipped with premium features like leather upholstery, push-button start with keyless entry, and many more, the Honda HR-V feels more than enough to pamper its inner occupants. Talking about the room on offer on the inside, only the headroom feels a little bit compromised at the back.
HR-V Exterior
While the Honda HR-V lacks the quintessential upright SUV stance, it tries to break the mold with its crossover-like design, which does look sharp and bold.
The Honda HR-V shows its sleek side with a slanted front end comprising of a thick chrome slab above the large grille being a part of it. The almost triangular headlamps are all LED units with daytime running LEDs incorporated within them. The fog lamp housings aren’t too bold as the rest of the frontal look, however, it subtly engulfs the LED fog lamps within them.
The side profile of the Honda HR-V makes it look like a jacked-up hatchback, and that is down due to its sloping bonnet, curved roofline, and rising shoulder line. It does come with one of the latest trends of the hidden rear door handles in the C-pillar recesses, giving the HR-V a two-door look.
At the rear, the Honda HR-V has quite a busy design with large sabre tooth-shaped tail lamps, which cover a majority of the boot lid design. The sharply raked rear windshield along with the roof-mounted spoiler accentuates its sporty appeal very much.
Honda HR-V Ride & Handling
The Honda HR-V, thanks to its crossover-like profile, feels agile and spirited to drive, a part of which has to be credited to the Macpherson struts at the front and an axle torsion beam at the rear. With a sporty setup to the overall suspension, the Honda HR-V feels like a nice driver’s car.
HR-V Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Honda HR-V has been bestowed with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine under its hood, which is paired to a CVT gearbox as standard. With a maximum power output of 130 PS and a peak torque output of 155 Nm, the engine packs in enough grunt to pull it off with ease and composure, with a linear power delivery on tap. However, the CVT gearbox feels a bit lazy as compared to other SUVs’ gearboxes.
Honda HR-V Braking & Safety
The Honda HR-V gets a slew of safety features like front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic parking brake with brake hold function, multi-angle rearview camera, electronic stability control, and traction control.
HR-V Verdict
The Honda HR-V is not that poster boy of SUVs one might have thought on the basis of the way it looks. However, this very aerodynamic and edgy design makes it look athletic and feels a nice vehicle to drive. And being a Honda, it scores highly on space management on the inside and a refined petrol engine under its hood.
