Hyundai announces to launch new SUV, names it Bayon
The Korean automobile giant, Hyundai has announced to add a new vehicle to its SUV lineup in the first half of 2021 and names it Bayon. It will be positioned in the B-segment SUV arena and will be an entry-level model f for Europe. It will be joining the likes of Tucson, Kona, NEXO, and Santa Fe.
The brand has revealed the fact that the new Bayon will be one of the most affordable models in the brand’s SUV lineup. Bayon has been primarily intended to launch in Europe and has been named after the European city of Bayonne, which is located in southwestern France. The city is situated between the Pyrenees and Atlantic coast and flaunts a lot of outdoor activities such as hiking and sailing, which matches the character of the new model.
Vice President of Marketing & Product, Andreas-Christoph Hofmann said, “Hyundai is strongly established in the European SUV market already, in terms of our model range as well as our sales success. By launching a new, additional B-segment model as the entry point into our SUV line-up, we see a great opportunity to cover European customers’ demand even better and to increase our offering in a highly popular segment.”
It has been noticed that over the past 20 years, Hyundai has been naming its crossovers after various interesting places around the globe. For instance, the Santa Fe and Tucson were named after American cities and Kona was also named after a district of Hawaii. In addition, the NEXO electric vehicle is named after the popular city Nexo, which is located on a Danish island.
Hyundai has shared a photograph of the upcoming model where only its boomerang-shaped taillights are visible. Even if the carmaker has not revealed much information about its new SUV, there are various spy photographs that have started to surface online. The leaks state that the design of the SUV is inspired by the Hyundai i series vehicles such as the i30.
