Hyundai Ioniq 5 will get significant updates in Europe
Automobile giant Hyundai recently revealed that its beloved Ioniq 5 will get a series of updates in Europe for the upcoming 2023 model. The biggest update will be a new 77.4 kWh battery that the American Ioniq 5 variant already possesses. It is a significant update from the previous 72.6 kWh battery. The upcoming Europe-spec Hyundai Ioniq 5 will get a range of exciting updates including a larger battery pack, a new battery conditioning system, Digital Side Mirror, Digital Center Mirror and Smart Frequency Dampers.The existing 58 kWh option will be present in the upcoming model, and the larger, more powerful battery will be joining the smaller one. Hyundai has not revealed the range for the new battery, but from what we hear, it will provide a maximum range of 481 km.
The new EV will also receive a battery conditioning system. It will automatically measure the battery temperature to optimize charging conditioning when you reach a charging point. This new system will improve the existing charging performance considerably as it automatically gets activated if you enter a charging point to the car’s navigation system.
There won’t be any major styling updates for the European Ioniq 5. Sources say that styling updates will be minor, and the vehicle will come in a new combination option. You can now choose projection LED lighting with black bumpers and black trim.
Now coming to the other aspects, the upcoming 2023 model will receive several smart feature updates. Firstly, the EV will come with a DSM or Digital Side Mirror option that the South Korean variant already enjoys. It will be cameras replacing the previous side mirrors, to improve viewing by connecting to displays on the door cards.
The vehicle will also come with an option for DCM or Digital Center Mirror. Here, the camera will be placed under the rear spoiler and provide a panoramic rear view of the vehicle. It will send the video to the screen into the cabin’s rearview mirror.
Apart from this, the Ioniq 5 will receive SFP or Smart Frequency Dampers. Unfortunately, Hyundai has not specified if this option can be manually adjusted or automatically. However, they did mention that it will increase ride comfort by improving front and rear suspension responses.
