Hyundai Staria teased; bold MPV successor of Starex

KUALA LUMPUR: Here is the Hyundai Staria, the new successor of Starex that gets a design revolution along with a new name. The South Korean automaker is all set to change the car-making game by offering a significant makeover for its MPV or van. For over 14 years, Starex has maintained its no-fuss appeal despite other passenger cars from the company getting updated with both elegance and style.

Surely, that sounds like a marketing gimmick but the teaser release confirms genuine good looks, flaunting a sharp distinction from the previous version. This new anonym drops a hint at the streamlined design features and futuristic product valuation.

A spacious removable console between the front seats will offer good storage space. Also, the second-row seats get a plush appeal with airline-like wraparounds in the ottomans and headrest.

The interiors are futuristically innovative compared to the latest Tucson. It also copies certain attributes like a push-button gear selector from Hyundai models, like Sonata, which preferably offers more room. A cascading-like center console splits the broad yet slim air vents in front of the driver and passenger. A freestanding panel is affixed at the top and nestles the touch-sensitive climate control and infotainment touchscreen.

The monotonous tour bus refinement in the Starex is replaced with an aerodynamic space shuttle body structure. The front fascia gets an extensive and sleek LED light strip for the DRLs, which makes Staria resemble a Robotic appeal. It also features a massive rectangular grille that almost occupies the lower half of the vehicle with vertical low-mounted headlights.

The rear section gets the narrow vertical taillights to complete the design scheme that is featured in the high-end Staria premium. The sides are toned down with simple flared wheel arches and no other character specs to maintain the clean and uniform styling. The sizable windows of Staria originate from the beltline dropdown to offer unparalleled views from outside.

However, besides these, not much has been revealed about the Hyundai Staria. However, we still expect it to come in the typical petrol and diesel version car engine variants.
