Hyundai teases the 2022 Santa Cruz Pickup ahead of official debut

Hyundai has released the first teaser sketches of its 2022 Santa Cruz pickup ahead of its debut on the global platform on April 15. With a long wait of over six years since the automaker released its concept for a pickup, Hyundai’s first pickup truck is finally arriving.

Talking of the concept car, the pickup truck has been through a vast design modification journey from an extended-cab body concept pickup to a more rider-centric double-cab layout.  As per the officials at Hyundai, their upcoming pickup will “break new ground within the SUV, Truck and Crossover segments by offering a new category of vehicle unlike anything else in the U.S. market.”

Coming back to the teaser, the automaker has provided us with quite a view of its upcoming offering. The pickup seems to have evolved exceptionally in terms of its design language, ever since the automaker released their first concept at the 2015 Detroit Motor Show.

The pickup truck shares a strong stance in terms of styling and appealing looks. The truck is considerably long (in terms of its length) and carries a diverse difference between the body and the extended cargo bed. Sporting LED lighting and grille that match the tastes of Hyundai’s recent offerings, we can surely expect Santa to carry stances adapted from Hyundai’s latest design language.

The car is expected to roll over a unibody platform, which is something unique as there was no mention of such a platform in the concept offering. While Santa Cruz was never prioritized to the payload, towing, or ground clearance, the use of such a platform is expected to make the offering way more robust.

Lastly, we expect Santa Cruz to shelve the 2.0L turbodiesel that was previously showcased in the concept. The car might introduce us to a more refined mill on the spec sheet. Whatever the speculations might say, we look forward to getting our doubts clarified by April 15.
