Hyundai teases the upcoming Bayon SUV ahead of debut
Following in the footsteps of the i20, Hyundai is all set to introduce its new entry-level, B-segment SUV in the European market called Bayon. The Korean automaker released a new teaser video of the SUV ahead of its global reveal on March 2, that’s tomorrow!
The upcoming car was announced last November and the teaser looked quite spectacular. The name comes from a city in southwest France, Bayonne, which is renowned for being a hub of outdoor sporting activities.
The new Hyundai Bayon teaser revealed its front end flaunting the sharp designing cues with DRL strips that are paired with a slim upper grille. The Sensuous Sportiness design seems to adapt the styling from the other next-gen Hyundai cars.
Being a derivative that comes directly from the i20 premium hatchback, the Bayon is expected to bear several design elements that aren’t much clear from the teaser video as well. Some major highlights of the car also include a triangular headlamp casing, and a mesh-type trapezoidal grille that is complemented with sleek LED DRLs.
Expected to be placed under the Hyundai Kona SUV in the global line-up of Honda, the Bayon might adapt its powertrain from the current Hyundai i20. Powering the i20 is a 1.2L naturally aspirated engine that is capable of delivering 84 hp output, besides churning out 117 Nm of peak torque.
The other optional powertrains for the car might include a mild-hybrid system, powered by a 1.0L turbocharged motor, mated to a 48v electric motor. The combined output of the powertrain will be churning out 100 hp of power, besides giving out 171 Nm as its peak torque.
While not much is available on the interior of the car, we can expect a similar cockpit just like the second-gen i20. However, some tweaks are expected from the automaker.
