When will next-gen Kia Niro debut?
The next-generation Kia Niro will debut on November 25 at the Seoul Mobility Show. The Kia Niro borrows its design cues from the 2019 concept of HabaNiro, while the rest of the bodywork remains under the covers. Despite the covered exterior images, it can be said the crossover is indeed receiving influencing illumination units with the evident U-shaped LED strip at the front. In contrast, the HabaNiro concept again influences the rear.
Besides the fact that the crossover will feature a 'clean and hi-tech two-tone body', the company hasn't revealed anything unique or specific related to the Niro.
As per the available info, the interior possesses an asymmetric dash, connecting horizontal and diagonal forms. The large screens are the centrepiece integrating the infotainment system displays and the digital instrument cluster. The front doors feature a striking, steeply-raked line that soars upwards and unites with the dashboard, while horizontal ambient lighting elements look to be.
The automaker hasn't mentioned anything specific regarding the upcoming Niro powertrain, but it is expected that it would follow on that notice presently.
The current generation of the Niro is available as a completely electric vehicle in two versions offering 450 km and 300 km range and a plug-in hybrid and a hybrid. The company even said it wouldn't employ Hyundai-Kia's e-GMP dedicated electric vehicle platform, rather will continue using a front-wheel-drive setup.
Though only launched in Australia in 2021, the current Niro was first introduced in Europe and the US markets back in 2016. With the data in hand, the Kia Australia product planning manager Roland Rivero earlier this year said that "It took a little longer than expected due to strong global demand exceeding production capacity. Naturally, in that situation, it's understandable that stock will be prioritised for regions with CO2 regulations and tax penalties".
